Destined to Get Behind the Scenes with Joel Mull

During the summer of 2013, Joel Mull personally visited GlobalMixx Radio(https://www.facebook.com/globalmixxradio) for a live radio interview as well as a set exclusively recorded at the GlobalMixx studio for fans.

Joel Mull discussed his plans, opinions, technique and personal artistic style with us the day before he was set to perform at the long awaited Sunday, Electric Zoo 2013.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Sunday EZOO 2O13 was cancelled on that morning due to two drug overdoses that resulted in the deaths of two young college students.

Initially, I and many others, expressed outrage for the cancellation of the event not considering the tragedy of the actual reasons for it.

These occurrences turned out to be an outcry to reality; many people have lost touch with the reason we attend these events, which used to be for the love and passion for the music, but sadly now the love and passion for music has been substituted with the love and passion for drugs.

It was magical to hear Joel feel so humbled and content to know that people - his fans who "receive his musical frequencies" do so with love, appreciation and adoration, and not just for intoxication.

If you are a Joel Mull fan, it is recommended you attend one of his events if he is ever around you.
He is very humble and a very kind, honest artist. Although unnecessary to restate, he is incredibly talented and also very in touch with life.

Below are the links to his exclusive set as well as his interview. Take a listen and enjoy!

Teching it on the North Shore of Long Island, NY

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK:

If you find yourself on Long Island on a Friday night, looking for mediocre - slightly close to good house music, and what I mean by that is: bearable house music where you don't feel like smashing your head onto your table kind of music visit Chi Restaurant/Bar/Lounge located at 103 Post Ave, Westbury, NY 11590(516) 385-3795.

WARNING: Expect not so good service, but if you get great service: MARVELOUS! (I speak for inside the restaurant, as I did not get to go outside to the patio on that date because it was rented out for a private party).

The only reason why the mediocre service was excusable enough to recommend this place is because it's probably the closest thing to a non-mainstream house music playing spot on Long Island.

Of course, the attractive patio with a bar, seating area, and not so bad sound system also help these matters, especially if you're not entirely interested in a dining night out.

TORONTO: FOOTWORK

TORONTO, CANADA:

DJ/Producer Josh Wink

Footwork Nightclub is everything everyone has POSITIVELY said about it.

If you are looking for a place where the sound system is passionately dancing with your heart and soul, you MUST come here. (Plays pure underground techno, tech-house, deep house, and house music)

Footwork is open past 2AM on weekends, but not as late as US underground house venues. It is not a big nightclub but it is good enough to enjoy the music; although at times, the size doesn't always allow too much dancing space. The lack of space can be a bummer, but not so bad when your heart is already doing all the dancing for you.

My face ended up hurting from smiling so much at the amazing sounds that flooded my earlobes.

Touring Toronto For a Techno Thursday

If you find yourself in Toronto on a Thursday night, vigorously looking for a Tech-House, Deep House venue that miraculously stays open past 2AM, I recommend you visit the basement of:

Besides good music, Li'ly also sells bottles of wine for $35.00, which you can take around with you throughout the entire lounge, upstairs - downstairs, wherever you please. It's an ultimate option considering the TINY amount of alcohol Toronto venues serve you that cost the same amount of money as they would charge for a large liquor-filled drink in NY .

A glimpse of what to expect @ Lily Resto Lounge:

On this Thursday night, Daniel (Dick) Diamonds and Friends were playing and hosting the basement party.

If you are interested in finding information regarding the Toronto underground club scene, I recommend you become a fan of his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dickiedimes), as he is very in touch with the underground scene of Toronto House, Deep House and Techno. He continuously updates his page with events, music, and parties to attend. He is also an incredibly nice, talented, fun, and down to earth person.

Lost in Amsterdam Looking for House Music

If you ever find yourself in Amsterdam anxiously searching for a Techno/House Music venue that does not play mainstream music that feels like a rude invasion to your precious ears,  visit Escape located at Escape, Rembrandtplein 11, 1017 CT Amsterdam,  http://www.escape.nl/

My experience took place on a Saturday when DJ Raymundo was playing in August, 2011. DJ Raymundo played a variety of underground sounds (tech-house, deep, progressive).

The experience was so authentic and refreshing that the first thing I did after my night out was run to my nearest WIFI to become a fan on his Facebook fan page.

I do not know if he has suddenly become mainstream as most DJs do (I doubt it), as he did seem legitimately authentic but it is worth the trip and try.
